Sample the new Kanye West album

Good news, everyone! Kanye is performing at the Marquee in Pheonix Park late November at an indoor/ outdoor concert. That means, it'll be hella cold. Yay!

I've been listening to his new album "Graduation" for the past week and I have to say it's one of my favourite albums so far in the year. He's developed a new futuristic vibe to his beats while retaining the obscure samples style the way he does best. It's still completely different to his last album. Which is more than I can say for 50 Cent's "Curtis" which sounds exactly like "The Massacre". "Get Rich Or Die Tryin" was a classic rap album but Massacre was weak in comparison and Curtis even worse.

I'm getting the feeling that there's going to be some kind collaboration between 'Ye and 50 down the line and that this some kind of ellaborate ruse. The whole Rolling Stone cover shoot was enough proof for me. I thought Jackson made the claim that the next album was his last album months ago but nobody cared. He was too busy becoming a fully fledged business man. He later called attention to his new album by challenging Kanye to sell more. This sounds like some setup for a tour simliar to "Best Of Both Worlds" featuring Jay-Z and R Kelly.

Anywho, here's the album. Listen to it now. Buy it later. Read my Kanye post tomorrow. Be in awe of my writing about stuff. And if you're a girl, throw your panties at the computer moniter shouting "Pedro, your word-putting-together-ness is the best!". Aww shucks, you had no reason to say that.

This makes me want to punch a T-Rex in the face

The Red Ring Of Death visited me today. Yippee. I'm not that fond of sending my X-Box 360 off to Germany for a month while I wait pointlessly in a queue on September 26th for Halo 3- the game the 360 was made for. I'm tempted to give the wonky one away and buy the new 360 Elite which is so much cooler. Because it's black, you see.

There's a crazy ad campaign for the game to reach new audiences in Korea. What the Koreans apparently want is Master Chief fighting a dinosaur.

I haven't started packing the 360 yet and I already miss it. Waiting is not my forté. At least I don't have to wait for Kanye West's new album. It's leaked onto all of the internets and into my ears. It's very good and growing on me by the second. But this is coming from a huge Kanyeezee fan so I may be a tad biased.

Favourites so far on limited listening: "Good Life", "Drunk And Hot Girls (feat Mos Def)" and "Homecoming (feat Chris Martin)". At least there aren't any silly skits this time around. Let's see what kind of magic trick 50 Cent can pull out of his arse to save his music career now and beat this...

New Kanye West video (feat. Zach Galifianakis)

This alternative video to Kanye's first single "Can't Tell Me Nothin" defines the word "pimptastic". It's so much better than the first video which Hype Williams pretty much phoned in, but that wouldn't be a hard task in the first place. Kanye hired Zach Galifianakis (who is a genius) who filmed the video on his farm and put the video on his official website. His sidekick is Will Oldham a.k.a. Bonnie "Prince" William.

Some brilliant Zach Galifianakis quotes:
"I like to go to really bad movies, during their sixth week, and there's only one other person in the theatre, and I like to sit right next to them. And they're like, 'excuse me?', and I'm like, 'Shhh, I can't hear Keanu."

"You know you're an alcoholic when the bartender knows your name... and you've never been to that bar before."

"Guys, have you ever woken up with an erection, and then you realize you're just face-down in a massage chair at Brookstone...and then you yell out, 'I'll take it!'"

"Three years ago my sister was diagnosed with multiple personalities, and there's nothing funny about that. But she phoned me the other day...and my caller ID exploded."

"That show 'The Amazing Race'--is that about white people?"

"I would start a revolution, but... I just bought a hammock."

"I'm working on this new screenplay. It's called "Schindler's List 2: Let's Get This Party Started."

"I want to move to India or Pakistan, and become a cab driver."

"Hello everyone, my name's Zach Galifianakis, and I hope I'm pronouncing that right."

"I just released a DVD. It's selling like whatever the opposite of 'hotcakes' is."

"At what age do you tell a highway it's adopted? I think around seven, because, that's when they start to think, 'I don't look like the Kiwanis Club.'"

"I have a lot of growing up to do. I realized that the other day in my fort."

"I want to open up a store for cross-dressers. I'll call it 'Susan B. Anthony'."

"I wear a lot of Axe bodyspray, but I live in a black neighborhood and it's called Ask. And if you don't get that you're not racist."

"Last night, I got so drunk that I African-Americaned out."

"The Louis Vuitton Don is planning to re-emerge on the scene just as the summer comes to a close with his third album offering, 'Graduation'. Though Ye's camp has been extremely tight lipped about who will be in attendance at the 'Graduation', the CD is rumoured to feature Coldplay's Chris Martin on the track 'Homecoming', as well as 'Late Registration' collaborator Jon Brion. The first single to be taken from the album will be the DJ Toomp-assisted track 'Can't Tell Me Nothing'.

"The producer/MC's third album will also include a song titled 'Stronger' which has been built around a sample of 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' from the album 'Discovery' by Daft Punk."
The version on this mixtape is a two month old snippet. Click here to download the full five minute album version.

S.O.S

Yesterday was the Live Earth day. I found some links to download what I thought to be the best performances of the day. There are some acts like Foo Fighters I've yet to find but I'll update this at a later date. Some good performances mixed with some awful "comedic" material (I'm looking at you Chris Rock).

That photo, by the way, is not part of his act. He jumped into the Police's Message In A Bottle featuring John Mayer with some fairly awful but enthusiastic improv rapping. You can see the youtube footage here.

Mike D is really letting himself go. Is it just me or is Money Mark's keyboard even plugged in? Why is he allowed on that stage?

How Not To Park A Car (Part 2)

Some random links again today:
-Kanye West's amazing performance at the horribly mawkish "Concert For Diana" or whatever it was called. He manages to spit a verse while sprinting across the stage. Shame it was in front a pile of posh posers. That's awesome alliteration in action there, assholes.

-Some rich idiot woman tries to buy a load of iPhones to sell on ebay hoping for the same profit found when the PS3 and Wii were first launched. Somehow, and I find this hard to believe, it doesn't work out. Silly Americans.

-A huuuge list of hoaxes worthy of three U's in the word "huge". Some of them, I'm happy to know are false. I don't ever want to see a monkey wash sweet potatos. I'd rather be as extinct as my hair colour.

That's it for now. I'm off to prove that bananadine is real.

Me Likey!

For some weird reason, I can't embed the newly released music video here so I'll give you this link to see what is the funkiest rap/ techno/ dance song I've heard in a very long time. It samples my favourite Daft Punk song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" which in turn samples Edwin Birdsong's "Cola Bottle Baby". I cannot wait for his new album "Graduation" which is released on August 21. The mixtape "Can't Tell Me Nothin" was released last month to extremely different reviews. Edit... Found it here: Stronger.

Here's a version of Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" video with clever use of hands.

Kanye West Youtube Extravaganza

Sorry for a lazy youtube post, but I've been busy working on a pet project while listening to Kanye West's new mixtape (see the link there?). Click here for an amazing live performance by Kanye and Jamie Foxx at the Grammys last year and then click here for a perfect mashup.
